The little birds were squawking up a storm out back. That’s the “Predator Alarm”, so something was up & I tip-toed out. Didn’t see anything for a long time until a large Thing rustled some branches. It floated over to another limb, but leaves obscured my view. ‘Probably just one of the hawks again,’ I thought.
Hawks have been patrolling the backyard every day for weeks, however, they usually screech like they’ve dropped their ice cream cones in the dirt. This bird was silent. Plus, the little birds don’t sound off like this when the hawks are around.
Barred Owls drift through all the time–mostly at night; occasionally in late afternoon. Often heard, rarely seen. This one hung out for a while though.
